Sarah Milby, now a Senior Policy Manager at Blockchain Association, began her Web3 journey when she saw the need to transact across borders. Sarah shares a personal story about how she realized friends and family members across the world were facing countless obstacles to support each other financially. So, she dove into crypto research and has begun doing everything she can to make a change. Sarah’s work focuses on security and the risks of centralized vs. decentralized exchanges. She says decentralization exists on a spectrum, and it isn’t black and white: Companies can have elements of both, and their level of decentralization can shift as the company evolves.

Sarah talks about how she learned the lingo of the crypto world, and advises to take the time to learn as much as possible and have a solid understanding of two big ideas: How the blockchain works, and what decentralization is and why it matters.

She also discusses:
How there’s so much coming in the future of Web3 that we haven’t even predicted yet
The difference between Traditional Finance (TradFi) big banks that don't use blockchain technology, and Centralized Finance (CeFi), centralized entities in the crypto space, and how they function in our society
And how it takes patience and community to learn the difficult parts of the Web3 world.

Sara Moric works in communications and PR for the Web3 industry, with stints at BitPanda, one of the biggest European exchanges, and LimeWire, a music NFT space that was created with the intent to make NFTs go mainstream. Sara visits the Women in Web3 podcast to discuss the evolution and possibilities of NFTs. She describes how the public’s definition of NFTs is constantly changing and can mean something different to everyone.

Sara's favorite part about NFTs is that they give artists direct support and investments from their fans, rather than having to go through a large streaming service. She also tells us how NFTs aren’t just photos or jpegs; they are digital assets that can unlock exclusive meet and greets, access to clubs, and so much more.

Sara realizes that the power of owning digital assets is what's carrying NFTs and will sustain their longevity in Web3. "If we think of it in the bigger picture, people have been interested in collecting items for as long as we can remember, and NFTs aren’t so different from that."

Sara also shares her knowledge on how communications and PR is changing with Web3, and how you can easily get in touch with journalists from just one easy click -- via an app you probably already have on your phone!

Jenny Kleinknecht worked in fashion, PR and marketing for multiple years before she partnered with two lifelong friends to launch Probably Nothing, where she is now the Director of Creative Strategy and Project Development. Robert Graham is a Co-Founder of Afterparty, alongside David Fields, Eytan Elbaz, and Dan Rahmel. With experience from Disney, Intuit, Google, and Paradigm Talent Agency, the four co-founders created a blockchain company that gives creators in Web3 the tools to connect with their fans in a new and exciting way. Notable angel investors for the all-in-one event ticketer and organizer include Paris Hilton, "Project Runway" executive producer Desiree Gruber, and Nicole Farb of VC firm Headline.

Robert moved to LA about 11 years ago and jumped right into the entertainment industry. After realizing he didn’t want to work at a big agency, he started his own talent management and influencer marketing agency, VAMPPED, where he represented major influencers to work with brands like Harley Davidson, Shangri-La Hotels, Puma, Under Armour, L'Oreal Paris, Casamigos Tequila + more.

Robert's foray into crypto began with buying Bitcoin back in 2016. Today, he's a big supporter of women in the Web3 space, and is bullish on building community and technology for the creator economy.

Robert joins the Women in Web3 podcast to talk about:

-       How his journey into crypto and Web3 began with reading whitepapers on Bitcoin, Ethereum, and various blockchain protocols;

-       Running the first-ever fully-gated NFT music and arts festival with headliners The Chainsmokers and rapper The Kid Laroi, as well as performances from Sofi Tukker, Gryffin, Charly Jordan + more;

-       What the future for Afterparty and Web3 creators looks like, and how you can apply to join.

Ty Haney recently founded two companies, side by side: Joggy, a full-spectrum CBD company that specializes in plant-based energy supplements, and Try Your Best, a first-of-its-kind web3 community-building platform. Both of these endeavors build off of Ty's entrepreneurial success founding the popular athleisure brand Outdoor Voices over eight years ago when she was just out of college. At that time, Ty wanted to do something different and inspire people to move their bodies on a daily basis. Today, Ty is using all she's learned to do something different for the web3 space, and change the way web2 brands look at loyalty and community building.

Ty joins the Women in Web3 podcast to talk about:

-       Simultaneously building Try Your Best (TYB) and Joggy;

-       How brand building relies on co-creation and incentivization;

-       Networking in social media and web3;

-       Differences in web2 and web3 communities;

-       And the TYB web3 toolkit and commerce tool for web2 brands.
